Project description

The concept of airport development has been elaborated, that includes construction of a new artificial runway, reconstruction of the airport terminal, as well as installation of new navigation equipment and the construction of the control tower. The project implementation will allow the airport to operate flights of modern aircrafts type B-737-800/900 and A-320/321, that provides interest of large airlines and increases volumes of passengers and cargo transportation for the airport. After the successful implementation of the project, the airport can become a crossing point between Asia and Europe.

In order to ensure the stable functioning of the airport, expand the geography of air traffic and attract airlines, it is necessary to perform:

  • construction of a new artificial runway, modernization of the electrical supply system, replacement of light-signalling equipment and purchase of a tool landing system, installation of an airfield locator.
  • modernization of the existing terminal facilities, improvement of the quality of passenger service, purchase of special equipment.

In recent years, there has been a tendency to increase passenger traffic, in particular, in 2017 it increased by 12.7 percent, in 2018 by 1.8 percent, the trend continued in 2019. Passenger traffic is 105-110 thousand passengers.

Economic justification

The project is planned to be implemented on the terms of public-private partnership: funds for the construction of the lane and navigation equipment – from the state budget, since the lane is the property of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and the reconstruction of the terminal and the purchase of necessary special equipment – at the expense of the investor.

Additional information

The airport has all the necessary infrastructure. The airport is located in the regional center. The distance to the railway station is 3 km, to the state roads N-09 and N-10 – 5 km. Currently, an inventory of land plots is being carried out. There is no project documentation or feasibility study.
