The most populated cities are:

• Kalush 66,4 thousand people
• Ivano-Frankivsk 260,6 thousand people
• Kolomyia 61,3 thousand people

На 1000 women accrue to 896 men.

Out of the total economically active population (613,7 thousand people):

• 565,8 thousand employed
• 47,9 thousand unemployed

The rate of unemployment among employable residents, calculated according to the methodology of the International Labour Organization, was 7,8%.

Age structure of the population:

The largest number of full-time employees is concentrated in such sectors as education (27,2% of the average number of personnel registered in the oblast), industry (22,4%) and healthcare (16,3%).

Notwithstanding the rather low salary, manpower in the region is highly-educated. According to the Competitiveness Rating of Ukrainian Regions, the region ranked:

• fourth in terms of the quality of primary education
• sixth in terms of availability of research and engineering personnel
• ninth in terms of the ratio of labour costs to workforce productivity
